Here’s a girl, nick-name Ki<\/p>\n
Yup, a verse, all about me<\/p>\n
A teenager who slumped and slouched<\/p>\n
Growled and groaned, and then BIG OUCH!<\/p>\n
My back packed up, could take no more<\/p>\n
Age 24, in pain on the floor<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
It happened quite out of the blue<\/p>\n
While turning for paper on the loo<\/p>\n
That little twist, the final straw<\/p>\n
My slumped tight muscles finally swore<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Muscle spasm, extreme pain<\/p>\n
The doctor came, but nothing gained<\/p>\n
The collar to hold my neck was thick<\/p>\n
The pills he gave me made me sick<\/p>\n
Puking with a neck in spasm<\/p>\n
My brain to body, there was a chasm<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
One day, a visiting friend, an actor<\/p>\n
Showed me what was the matter<\/p>\n
‘At drama college we learned Alexander Technique<\/p>\n
So simple, profound, amazing, unique’<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
‘Let me show you how to lie<\/p>\n
Your head on books, knees to the sky …<\/p>\n
Just rest … let your mind begin to go …<\/p>\n
Into your body, let it flow … ‘<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
‘The pain is your body shouting ‘KI LISTEN!’<\/p>\n
There is no need to stay in prison<\/p>\n
For that is what your body’s become<\/p>\n
You’re stuck in your head, it’s really quite dumb!’<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
From that moment I could see<\/p>\n
That Alexander Technique was for me<\/p>\n
‘Let it go!’ I’d found a key<\/p>\n
To learn to let my neck be free<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Opening my thinking as I go<\/p>\n
Not to arrive or be perfect, just to flow<\/p>\n
To let my life a journey unravel<\/p>\n
As freely forward and up I can travel<\/p>\n
Noticing habits that put me wrong<\/p>\n
Like a clamped up, held tight tongue<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
I’ve learnt this technique bit by bit<\/p>\n
And am still learning, come to think of it<\/p>\n
For there is no destination, perfect or right<\/p>\n
It’s a moving journey, travelling light!<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
